The development application process for the $200 million Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment has commenced, marking a significant milestone for the project.
The request for Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARS) lodged this week with the Department of Planning and Environment, has initiated the development application process. The SEARS request will be closely followed by the lodgement of the State Significant Development Application, both of which are important milestones for the project.

The Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment will deliver a mix of new and refurbished areas including an expanded emergency department and maternity alongside a new modern mental health inpatient unit (Panorama House), improvements to inpatient, outpatient and community health services, operating theatres and a new integrated paediatrics zone.

Construction of the redevelopment is expected to be commence in 2025 following planning approvals. Work to build the expanded health facility will be carefully staged to ensure clinical services remain operational during construction.

Access to the hospital including improved car parking accessibility for patients, staff and visitors, alongside pedestrian and vehicular flows on the campus are under extensive investigation to ensure accessibility to the hospital is maximised in the long term.
